Relationship between Disaster Shock Experience and Farmers’ Entrepreneurial Inclination: Crisis or Opportunity?

In the context of climate change, it is important to examine correlation between farmers’ disaster shock experience and their entrepreneurial inclination, as well its adaptive mechanisms for rural development. We define entrepreneurship farmers engaging in self-employment or business operation, then analyze positive negative correlations propose that there a U-shaped relationship them. develop mechanism based on mediating role risk appetite moderating government support. Based survey 39,113 households from 2019 China Household Finance Survey, we test our hypotheses using probit model structural equation modeling. The findings indicate strongly correlates with entrepreneurship. Over time, trend emerges them, which can deter through appetite, while support alleviate this inhibitory effect. Moreover, different types disasters show same trend, but differs gender income levels. These suggest areas should enhance development capacity resilience, establish long-term Additionally, need accurately understand cope experience, so they uncover potential value opportunities presents.
